At present, the PMRE department offers only postgraduate programs in Petroleum Engineering. Most of the students come from industry including the national oil company Petrobangla. If the industry demand grows substantially in future, the department has the capability of developing undergraduate program as well. Undergraduate courses on Natural Gas Engineering and Petroleum Reservoir Engineering are being offered to the students of chemical engineering and mechanical engineering who would like to seek career in the petroleum industry. However, it would like to expand the programs eventually up to mineral engineering if the needs for academic program for this discipline become ample.
